sister.

today is my one and only sister's birthday and i have seen some people in the blogging world do a little post about others on their birthday, so this one is about debie. here are 10 things that make my sister so great:

{i will try and find a photo somewhere to insert here}

1. she has always been there for me, which is saying a lot since she is 14 years older than me. i always feel like i can call her with any problem - from a huge issue to just needing a recipe - shes always got an answer. her and brent even let me live with them for awhile during my junior year of high school so that i didnt have to move during my senior year!

2. she has got more self control than i could ever imagine. a few years ago she lost a bunch of weight just by eating right and excersizing - it sounds so easy, but its so hard to actually do and i am so impressed that she was able to do that!

3. she has got five of the cutest and most well behaved children ever. seriously. they ask for homework during the summer, they refuse treats because they know theyre only allowed one a day. now thats got to be from some good parenting.

4. she is incredibly creative. whenever i needed date ideas she always had a ton of good ideas and look at this awesome cake she made after just arriving home from a week in england. her house is filled with creative projects that are so well done that they dont even look homemade.

5. she has the cutest house i have ever seen. her and brent designed it themselves and have decorated it so well, shes got great style.

6. she is extremely generous and kind hearted. she is always making meals for people in her ward or babysitting other people's kids - its really a great example to me and especially to her kids.

7. she gets more done in one day than i could do in a week. its incredible. shes on the pta (at least last time i checked she was), volunteers in the kids' classrooms, blogs incredible posts about european vacations, keeps her house clean, serves others, does her church callings, gets the kids everywhere they need to be, cooks amazing meals...and more.

8. i believe she was the first girl in our family to go to college and because of her example i went to byu too. and because she went to byu and went to a random ward where she met and married brent then moved to pasco, which caused my parents to move to richland, i was led to meet my husband david. now all my family (except me and david :( ) live in the tri-cities. shes obviously making good choices, because they benefitted our entire family!

9. she has fun. no matter what she is doing, she always has a smile on her face. she isnt afraid to be silly and do karaoke high school musical on the wii and she takes her kids to fun things like hannah montana in 3d. i am really impressed by her ability to just make life fun!

10. our relationship is very different from most sisters, she has been like a second mom to me as well as being my sister. when i was a baby she would take me places with her. i remember going to a uvsc halloween party with her when i was five or six, her and brent took me on my first camping trip (where i was traumatized by the death of a fish, but it was fun none the less), basically she has always been a great sister and friend, despite the fact that we havent lived in the same house since i was six.

happy birthday debie!

Sarah, you are so sweet and I love you. Thanks for your example to my kids. When you came out of the temple after getting married last summer, I was so proud of you and your choices. It was a tremendous example. Thanks for the birthday wish. Stay tuned later for my blog on what I got for my birthday.

I left a comment yesterday and it didn't take. I think she is everything you said and I could add some more. Nice tribute to your sis.
