love story. continued.

so...the proposal, huh? i dont know where to start because we had been talking about getting married for a long time (we even drew up the plans for our dream house before he left on his mission).

i had just turned 21 and had thought about a mission. i started reading 'preach my gospel' and i was thinking about the idea of putting in my papers. well, i felt like i should wait until christmas to make a decision. why christmas? i dont know. i turned 21 at the beginning of august and david got home a few days later, i was hoping things would pick back up, but i didnt want to seem to anxious. things were going great, but david still said he wanted to date other girls to 'make sure i was the one' the thought of going on a mission was still in my mind, but 'wait until christmas' was there too.

well, we went home to washington for christmas together and he invited me to his Kerr family christmas party on christmas eve. we were sitting there watching the talent show and nativity and david leaned over and said 'when we get home, lets look at engagement rings.' sweet! i didnt pay much attention to anything the rest of the night...kinda just thought about the man (and the ring) of my dreams... talk about waiting until the last minute! one more day and i might have been out of there on a mission, i guess that was why i had to wait until christmas.

*right after he proposed

well, it was about march and still. no ring. david wanted to get a really nice one, but not at a crazy price, so he used good ol' ebay. yep, my engagement ring is from ebay. (its legit, i swear). but to get a ring of the quality and price that he was looking for was...well...impossible. we set a date and everything before he actually proposed. i had kinda just given up on the ring thing, hoping that i would get one before we were married.
*pretty.

david was in men's chorus and they went on a tour to st. george and vegas and they were gone for a few days. so, on their way back, david called me and i said 'hey, lets go have a picnic somewhere and celebrate you being home.' totally my idea. so, i went to the store, bought a couple jones sodas and some things for dinner and went to pick up david. we went to the red ledges park in spanish fork canyon and set up a blanket and ate our food. we were just talking and holding hands and he slipped a little something into my hand and asked me to marry him. what?! i had no clue this was coming, i mean i knew it was generally coming, but now - this dinner was totally my idea. it was perfect. the ring was beautiful and it was an awesome surprise. simple. cute. perfect.
*the big day.
and then we got married about five months later and we lived happily ever after (actually we are still living happily ever after!)

The title of your blog, "beginnings" tells the story of your life together. You've only just begun. I can't wait to see you featured in the newspaper for your 50th. Date night tonight?
